studioRUIG - a Dutch concept

Klaartje, Inge and Sophie, the three designers behind studioRUIG, don't talk explicitly about their concept. They let their creativity and intuition speak. That's why the last three years this brand has become extremely popular and successful.

StudioRUIG captures time in their designs and accentuates them with an androgynous look, sustainable materials and strong colors. The designers favorite? LEATHER! It explains the brand's 'RUIG' component, which stands for 'rough'.

StudioRUIG already launched several collections: SOIRNOIR (09-10), PIGZWART (10-11), COUCOU MADAM (11), REVIVAL FOR THE FITTEST (11-12), RONJA (12), RONJA 2.0 (12-13) and GEORGE ET GEORGETTE (13). Together with model Marieke Blankenstein, who has recently been shot for Harper's Bazaar, C is the face of the latest collection. You can gaze the collection on the site of studioRUIG.

PEOPLE VS. PLACES

Hello Issues,

I've recently discovered a collab between two photographers, Stephanie Bassos and Timothy Burkhart. They express themselves through the art of double exposures, which they lift to a whole other level. They both step back, trust in one another and let coincidences naturally happen on film. Stephanie takes the shots of people and Timothy then reloads the same film to encapture beautiful places and scenery. That way, the end result becomes a fusion of lovely contrast.

ALPHA MALE MM

Buenos días, lectores!

C is back on track!
After very hard studying and getting used to his local university, C has found out how to combine both modeling and studying.
Last weekend, he signed with Alpha Male Model Management in Amsterdam, Netherlands!

Alpha Male is a young model agency, that was founded by Yannick Kranstauber in December 2011.
In the past, Alpha Male's boss worked as a stylist. Yannick came across guys with talent and he noticed that they still don't have any agency, so he decided to start one himself. Focusing only on male models, Yannick makes them develop by building elaborate and variant portfolios.

C did his first test shoot in Amsterdam while he was passing by the agency for a chat. He also met two models, who have already been working with Alpha Male.

THE MARGIELA FILES

Hey guys!
Last month, we posted a first look of the MMMxH&M collab. Now we have even more information!
It is suggested that this collection will contain re-released favorites of past collections of the Belgian brand. Inside each garment, there will be a detail of the season of origin and year. Isn't that exiting? We're expecting a lot from this upcoming collection!

BLUE VELVET !

Hey fashionlovers,
H&M FINALLY uploaded the full video of the Fall Collection. The classy and inspiring clip features our beloved Lana Del Rey, singing Bobby Vinton's classic tune, "Blue Velvet."

The collection is very 50s-inspired, with pastels, burgundy and dark colours setting the tone. There's also a clear emphasis on the higher waistline. But besides that, H&M has lovely jumpers to keep you warm and safe. You can check out the entire collection here.

School has started, so what's better than having spent your last free weekend in a lively big city like Brussels. A getaway to another city is the best way to relax and get me inspired. Not only does Brussels offer a lot of beautiful places to chill with friends, there's also a lot to do at any hour of any day. Brussels, definitely a city worth visiting.

TITI + THE GERMAN KID'S F/W 2012

Hey guys!

Here we are with a huge fashion blast, including a young Belgian designer. 
Who is she? It's our own Kristien Follon, who started the brand TITI + THE GERMAN KID.

Last Friday night, she presented her new F/W collection "The Day Destroys The Night" in an underground, industrial building in Hasselt. After runway, we got a chance to chat with the designer herself.

Kristien, who was given the nickname Titi, explains that this F/W collection is the best she has created until now. Her inspiration? The night with it's darkness, drugs, sex and rock 'n roll. She is proud and she should be! Telling she is most creative at night, she delivered a whole handmade collection about it. The brand stands for happiness, bright colours and animal prints, but this collection has a strong emphasis on dark and rough fabrics like leather, which we obviously love. Although the roughness, she kept the basic idea of the brand in mind. She nailed it!

After reading the Australian Vogue, we found out that our beloved Lana Del Rey wants to give up on her singing career in exchange for one in movie business. Unlike so many artists, she doesn't aspire to be an actress.

Beauty Del Rey, also known as Elizabeth Grant, would love to compose music for films. She doesn't feel comfortable at all on stage, what's comprehensible with so much criticism. We wish her the best, especially after conquering her past alcohol addiction.

Hi you guys, hope you're all enjoying school so far. Today I want to share one of my favourite music bands with you: 2NE1. The group is Korean and consists of four members: CL, Minzy, Dara & Bom. What I like most about these girls are their unique outfits and videoclips. To me they are a real source of inspiration. Enjoy!

Hi little monsters!

Lady Gaga's 'FAME' was finally released in Belgium last midnight. 

The official release happened at Muntplein, Brussels in Planet Parfum.

A lot of little monsters were anxious for this moment and the fragrance was quickly sold out. It is said to be the first black, unisex perfume ever made. Many were amazed by the way the liquid became transparent the moment it came into contact with the air. Gaga herself stated that the perfume would smell like an "expensive hooker".

Mother monster made two commercials, which you can see below. Word is spreading that those are actually a teaser of the new music video for 'Scheisse'.

OH MY GUCCI! C is running out of time!

For my 18th Birthday, I received a citytrip from my boyfriend. Destination: Istanbul, Turkey.

We are going to have a very modern and quite oriental vacation.
But besides that, C has to find some agencies there for next summer…
So that means WORKOUT bitches! :))
Many have already asked me what I do to stay in shape, so here’s my secret. I always start with a morning jogg (30min) or some swimming (1h). You can combine them to keep the workouts interesting! Afterwards, I go to the sweaty (and smelly) gym. Gotta do some weight lifting, abdominal exercises,… to work on your core muscles. Do not exaggerate, we only need to keep fitting in our skinnies!

It’s also very important to mind what you eat. My motto: “Each pound goes through your mouth!” So keep that in mind and eat lots and lots of fruits and vegetables!
To keep your skin healthy and glowing, trust on this ancient panacea: GREEN TEA. And of course, don’t forget to drink your 1,5l of water everyday.

OH MY MARGIELA !

Hey you guys! Did any of you notice this big MMM-story?
Yes it’s true.. As H&M already confirmed in June, ‘our’ Martin Margiela has planned a collaboration, due out worldwide November 15th.
We Belgians should be very proud, because the brand of Martin Margiela, born in Genk and part of the Antwerp Six, will create authentic pieces for a bargain. Martin is very famous for always keeping low profile. Did you know there has never been made a picture of him publically?

Down below you can see the first actual look of the collection for H&M. It’s a red, asymmetric dress, which refers to the authentic A/W collection of Maison Martin Margiela. And look at the boots with transparent heel!
We can’t wait to find out more about the menswear!
We’ll keep you posted and don’t forget to save money, because a real fashionista/o is nothing without his Margiela.
